New law will improve transparency and update bylaw procedures
A 'divisive' clause in a new piece of local authority legislation, which could've seen serious financial implications, has been removed.
During today's House of Keys sitting, Infrastructure Minister Tim Crookall's request to remove clause five of the Local Government Amendment Bill was approved.
Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper voted against the removal of clause five.
If imposed, it would've meant functions could have been introduced without the DoI providing additional funding.
The updated legislation now includes improvements to meeting minutes, a new byelaw approval procedure and improved transparency relating to members interests.
