New vessel to replace Sir William Hillary
The final slipway launch of the Douglas lifeboat will take place early in the new year.
The Sir William Hillary is to be replaced by a new Shannon class vessel and the final launch will take place at 11am on Sunday, 7 January.
It will stay on duty while modifications are made to the station to accommodate the replacement, and crews familiarise themselves with the new lifeboat.
The Sir William Hillary has been in service for 29 years.
