A Douglas man’s been ordered to carry out unpaid work for the community, after he assaulted his disabled brother.
Thirty-eight-year-old David Anthony Dudziak, of Derby Road, appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.
He admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm at his home on 14 May.
The court heard he’d been the sole carer for his brother, who has muscular dystrophy, but attacked him after losing his temper.
Prosecutor Roger Kane told the hearing Dudziak launched the attack after getting into an argument with his brother over money.
He said although usually he would apply for compensation, Dudziak’s brother had since moved back to Poland and so only a costs application would be made.
Dudziak’s advocate said his highly-educated client had been under a lot of pressure because of work and the demands of looking after his sibling, but was extremely remorseful.
Mrs Hughes said the offence was very serious, and sentenced him to 160 hours of community service as well as ordering him to pay £125 towards prosecution costs.
