Early Mad Sunday Liverpool sailings moved to Heysham

Usage of Pier Head sees Manannan schedule altered on 2 & 3 June

Some sailings between the Isle of Man and Liverpool on 2 June - dubbed Mad Sunday during TT race week - and the following Monday (3 June) will instead go via Heysham.

The Steam Packet says the new Pier Head operator GPH has told the company the Manannan won't be able to use the berth due to a 'previously agreed usage of the landing stage'.

The sailings affected on 2 June are the 2am sailing from Douglas to Liverpool and the 6:15am return.

The 2pm voyage from the Island on Monday 3 June and the subsequent evening return (6:15pm) have also been changed.

The Steam Packet says coaches will be put on to take passengers from Liverpool to Heysham and vice versa.

Affected passengers can also move on to another crossing.

Managing Director Brian Thomson says: 'We have sought to reduce the inconvenience to our customers by securing as much use of the Pier Head landing stage as possible, especially during the busiest time of our year.

'We’re grateful to GPH for their efforts to accommodate our schedule as far as possible and minimize impact on our operations.'

The Steam Packet says:  'Manannan will continue to operate the rescheduled sailings, which will remain at the same departure times, but the crossing time will be 2.5  hours, rather than the usual 3 hours from Liverpool. Manxman will continue its regular Heysham schedule.

'The reservations team will make necessary changes to travel information and contact affected passengers via email or phone.'

The reservations team can be contacted via email IOM.Reservations@steam-packet.com or by calling 661661 (IOM), 08722 992 992 (UK) or 0044 8722 992 992 (ROI & outside UK).

●    Sunday, June 2 - Liverpool to Isle of Man -  6:15am
●    Monday, June 3 - Isle of Man to Liverpool - 2pm
