Pollutants pose risk to wildlife, claims FOE
An environmental activist says dumping silt from Peel Marina into the sea would only add to an existing problem.
John Griffiths is monitor on pollution for Friends of the Earth Isle of Man.
He's been speaking to Manx Radio in response to DoI Minister Ray Harmer's comments that marine disposal would prove a likely 'short term solution' to the excess silt problem.
Tynwald will be asked to consider the options next week.
Mr Griffiths warned that high levels of pollutants in the Island's waters posed a risk to wildlife.
But, he added it isn't a new danger.
