Five short films featuring Celtic languages to be screened in Peel
A Manx-language film will get its world premiere this evening (29 July) in Peel.
Yn Cappan Argid is a 'traditional Manx folk tale about a cattle farmer’s entanglement with Themselves', and has been produced by Culture Vannin.
Elsewhere on the line-up are four other short films, all in Celtic languages.
After the screening will be a discussion and Q&A session with filmmakers Django Pinter and Glyn Owen.
They'll be exploring 'common themes and challenges in Celtic language filmmaking' including 'tensions between linguistic conservation versus innovation, the complex role of English in Celtic language filmmaking, the distinctly Celtic phenomenon of Back-to-Back filming, and more'.
The evening, which gets underway at 7.30pm, will be hosted by Ruth Keggin and Christy DeHaven, and tickets are still available HERE.
