27-year-old was abusive to police who'd turned up to help
A Douglas woman has been fined £300 after swearing and shouting at police officers who'd been called to a pub after reports of a fight.
Rebekka Lowther, of Alder Road, became abusive at The Albert Hotel in the Island’s capital just after 9.30pm on 15 September.
The 27-year-old, who had blood on her clothing, was asked for information by the officers to establish what had taken place but she became obstructive telling a friend: "They’re not trying to help us – they’re horrible."
At Douglas Courthouse she admitted being drunk and disorderly; the prosecutor told the court: "Drink is the problem here it would appear."
Lowther’s advocate said his client had no real memory of the incident adding: “The entirety of the evening is a blur. She is deeply ashamed of her behaviour.”
Ordering her to pay prosecution costs of £125 Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood told Lowther: "Alcohol doesn’t appear to agree with you – certainly not in large quantities."
She also imposed a three-month licensing ban which prohibits Lowther from purchasing or being supplied with alcohol.
