18-year-old caught with drug two weeks after being cautioned
A teenager from Port Erin has been fined £350 after he was caught with cannabis less than a fortnight after being cautioned for the same offence.
Joshua Aaron Kenneth Watterson, of Athol Park, received the warning on 28 May.
However when police stopped the 18-year-old at The Chasms, in Port St Mary, on 11 June he had 4.5 grams of the Class B drug in his possession; it had a street value of £90.
During sentencing at Douglas Courthouse the court was told Watterson had also received a ‘reprimand’ for the offence in November 2021.
Watterson’s advocate told the court the teenager was ‘very apologetic’ and did not intend on appearing before the court again.
Fining Watterson, and ordering him to pay prosecution costs of £50, Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood told him: “Steer clear of cannabis because if you don’t you will end up in front of me again.”
