21-year-old hadn't passed a driving test
A Pulrose woman who was caught driving her car in the early hours of the morning - with only a provisional licence and no L-plates – has been fined.
Twenty-one-year-old La-Keisha Bates, of Heather Crescent, admitted having no driving licence via a postal plea to Douglas Courthouse.
Deputy High Bailiff James Brooks heard police were on patrol in Douglas shortly after 3.30am on 7 May.
They spotted Bates parked on South Quay and watched as she started her car and drove past them along Battery Pier.
Computer checks showed the Mercedes was hers but she didn’t have a full licence.
Bates said she was going to take her driving test in August because she needed a driving licence for her job at Lloyds Pharmacy.
Mr Brooks fined her £120 and ordered her to pay £50 towards prosecution costs – he also imposed two penalty points on her licence.
