Airport operations currently unaffected
Fire crews from Douglas and Castletown are currently dealing with a chemical incident at Derbyhaven.
As a result, Derbyhaven Road has been closed as a precautionary measure.
Appliances have been on the scene in the last half hour.
The Department of Infrastructure has confirmed that 'contractors working on the runway drainage project this morning disturbed buried items which require further investigation, and the Isle of Man Fire and Rescue Service is in attendance to make the area safe'.
People are asked to avoid the area at this time.
Meanwhile, Ronaldsway says the incident is not currently impacting operations at the airport, and passengers are advised to arrive at the airport as normal.
A further update will be provided in due course.
