It's emerged that three quarters of the trophies stolen from the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull were those won by TT star Geoff Duke.
Robbers left what's been described as a "trail of destruction", after breaking into the museum.
Showcases were smashed and unique racing bikes were hurled to one side during the robbery which happened last night (Wed 11pm)
The 91 year old racing legend who still lives on the Island was six times world motorcycling champion and won six TT races during his career.
A £20,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to the recovery of the haul.
Museum Director, James Ewing, says the thieves can't sell the trophies and he fears they may melt them down for scrap value
