Charity says pilot programme needs £200,000 to keep going
The Manx homeless charity Graih risks losing its night shelter without further funding.
The plea is revealed in the latest issue of the charity's newsletter.
In a pilot scheme, a total of 331 night shelter spots have been used by 46 different people - 36 men and ten women - since January.
The figures revealed in the Graih Gazette, states it needs £200,000 per year to keep the shelter on an ongoing basis.
Michael Manning from Graih is the Gazette's author and says as winter approaches the charity faces the prospect of closing the service, if funding isn't secured.
Another £50,000, he says, would be needed a year to continue running its drop-in and daytime work.
Mr Manning thanks a number of donors, including the Manx Lottery Trust and the Department of Health and Social Care.
The twelve-month pilot currently runs out at the end of January 2020.
