Apparent U-turn after public outcry
Ownership of the Old Castletown police station is to be transferred to the Manx Museum and National Trust.
The U-turn is apparently in the wake of views expressed by members of the public - and re-affirmed in Tynwald.
The package involves the use of the proceeds arising from the sale of surplus office accommodation in the name of the Trust, and a contribution of up to £100,000 from Trustees’ charitable funds.
The future use of the building will be decided once the formal transfer has been completed.
Meetings are due to be held with local stakeholders, businesses and government agencies
