The man in charge of porters at Noble's Hospital entirely refutes claims that one of his staff earned more than £40,000 last year.
Kevin Powesland is responding to a headline in a local newspaper this week.
He says to earn that sort of money a porter would have to work around 65 hours a week all year round.
He says the story has had a negative impact on already low staff morale, and so much of it is inaccurate.
Mr Powesland also says the duties of staff at Noble's can't be compared with hospital trusts in the UK.
