Panel falls from Prince's Dock skyscraper
A tower block in Liverpool next to the site of a proposed new terminal for Isle of Man ferries has been cordoned off after a safety alert.
A cladding panel fell from the 20th floor of Alexandra Tower, smashing to pieces on the ground below.
The skyscraper is next to Prince's Half-Tide Dock, the proposed location for a new ferry terminal, if vessels from the Island are ousted from their current berth at the Pier Head to make way for a cruise liner terminal.
No one was hurt, but the Liverpool Echo has quoted the tower block's caretaker saying he thought the smash was a car crashing, and anyone walking underneath "wouldn't have stood a chance."
