Fewer boxes to be emptied at 6am
Isle of Man Post Office is to end early morning collections from letter boxes in residential and rural areas - as part of an efficiency drive.
A survey's shown that around two-thirds of boxes opened at 6am between Tuesday and Saturday are empty - or contain just a handful of items.
From the end of this month, daily 6am collections will only be made at the main post or delivery office in towns and villages around the Island.
Postal Headquarters at Spring Valley in Braddan will be the box for Douglas.
However, all post boxes will have an early collection on Monday mornings.
New features are being added to the post office website www.iompost.com to help customers look up collection times at their nearest post box.
Bosses say the changes will reduce operational costs and carbon emissions in line with government policy.
