Record year for A* to C grades
Hundreds of students around the Isle of Man have been receiving their GCSE results today.
The Department of Education and Children says 98.8 per cent of results were A* to G, while 72.6 per cent achieved A* to C grade – topping the 70 per cent mark for the first time ever.
The number of subjects each student sat, however, fell slightly over the past year – each young person sat an average of 9.1 subjects.
Paul Craine from the Department of Education and Children says that’s not a figure that worries him:

'Essential' that school staff recognise the signs of an allergic reaction
'High' risk of wildfires over the next week
'Come From Away' to continue after cast member injured during rehearsal
'Parks in worse state then when I started' says Peel commissioner
