Manx gay marriage laws "better than UK"
The Isle of Man has come in for high praise from a gay rights campaigner as Tynwald discusses marriage equality legislation.
Peter Tatchell expressed his support for the Manx government’s moves to allow anybody to marry or enter into a civil partnership.
It means those in long-term relationships will have all options open to them, something not currently available in the UK.
Mr Tatchell, who visited the Island last year, took to Twitter to praise the moves:
Congrats to Isle of Man for new Bill opening marriage & civil partnerships to all. True equality, unlike UK law. @IOMGovernment @Isle_of_Man
