Claire Bader has worked with Save the Children in Africa and Greece - she believes the definition of a 'typical refugee' has been distorted by the mainstream media.
She says the majority of people she's encountered just want to work, and lead a peaceful existence in Europe.
It comes a week after the Manx government agreed to review its stance on taking in migrants from war-torn Syria.
