Isle of Man’s first Wetherspoons opens in Douglas today

Wetherspoons 'The Conister Arms' will be officially opened by the Mayor ahead of the TT

The new Wetherspoons 'The Conister Arms' opens in Douglas today (14 May).

The venue, based in the former 1886 building on Regent Street in Douglas, will be officially opened by Mayor Natalie Byron-Teare.

It replaces the previous restaurant, which has moved to the Horse and Plough in Braddan.

In the build-up to the official opening, training exercises were held in which members of the public were treated to a free meal.

Franchisee Owner and Chief Executive James Thompson says they could welcome 10,000 visitors each day throughout TT:

Yesterday, the eatery held a training and taste test day.
