Driver hit another vehicle, flipping it over
A court's heard a Laxey woman's lapse in concentration caused a crash which left another car overturned.
Thirty-five-year-old Katherine Ann Sutherland, of Fairy Cottage in Laxey, appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
She admitted driving without due care and attention, while prosecutor Becky Cubbon withdrew a charge of failing to conform to traffic directions.
Sutherland was driving her silver Subaru towards St Mary’s Primary School in Douglas when the incident happened.
As Sutherland reached the junction of York Road and Woodbourne Road at around 2.15pm, she thought the traffic light had turned green.
But as she drove through, she hit a white Volkswagen, flipping it over and injuring the other driver.
Her advocate Darren Taubitz told the hearing it was impossible to know exactly what happened because cameras installed on the traffic lights weren't working.
And he added some witnesses had given differing accounts about the incident.
Sutherland was fined £300, ordered to pay prosecution costs of £50 and had four penalty points put on her licence.
