Thomas tables timely amendment
A motion, set to be brought before the House of Keys next Tuesday (19 Dec), could stop the Legislative Council from voting for the chief minister in future.
Chris Thomas MHK will seek support for the Council of Minister's (Amendment) Bill 2016, which allows only the House of Keys to vote during the election of government's leader.
The amendment was voted down by LegCo last year, despite unanimous Keys' approval, but can be brought forward again, for a limited time only.
Mr Thomas says it's clear the public want the election of the chief minister to be more democratic.
