Tynwald asked to consider national insurance rebate concept
Those earning below the Isle of Man Living Wage should be able to keep more of their own money.
That's according to Chris Robertshaw MHK, who'll ask Tynwald to support the idea of national insurance rebates for workers with a low income.
The Douglas East member believes the move would mean fewer locals would need to claim income support, and wouldn't be a huge cost to government.
Mr Robertshaw hopes it would ensure fewer people rely on the benefits system:
Ramsey MHK Lawrie Hooper will also query the house about national insurance.
He'll ask Treasury Minister Alf Cannan why his department is awaiting a UK decision before implementing reforms to National Insurance here.
Mr Hooper says he doesn't understand Treasury's current thought process on the issue:
