A blueprint for development in the south of the Island has been given the go ahead, despite three MHKs in the area being opposed to the move.
The Southern Area Plan was last night (Wed) supported by Tynwald.
During a two and a half hour debate, the three Rushen MHKs outlined their opposition to plans to designate Ballakilley in Rushen for housing.
The former landowner had left the site for recreational use and Phil Gawne said there was a desperate need for more sport and recreation facilities in the area.
However, despite the views of he and political colleagues Laurence Skelly and Juan Watterson, members voted by 28 votes to four to introduce the plan.
