Six Island residents now awarded long-service clasps
The dedication and long service of Civil Defence volunteers were celebrated at an awards ceremony recently.
The prestigious long-service clasp was presented to Johnny Sayle for 27 years’ service.
The presentation of the clasp means that, from a total of 90 awarded throughout the British Isles, members of the Isle of Man Civil Defence Corps now hold six.
There were five recipients of the long-service medal, presented for 15 years’ service: Judith Bartram, John Callow, Joyce Kermeen, Jim MacGregor and Graham Steele.
On his retirement Stewart Kermeen, meanwhile, collected a certificate marking 32 years’ service.
The event took place at Cronkbourne Cricket Club in Tromode.
