USB sticks allow visually impaired to enjoy books
The Manx Blind Welfare Society's Audio Library has received its 1000th digital book.
Based at the charity's Onchan headquarters, the audio library has more than 5,000 titles ranging across digital, cassette and large print book formats.
The charity decided to make the move to a USB system in 2014 after two years of research into the best way to keep up to date with technology, while remaining user-friendly.
Since the switch, more than £50,000 has been invested into digital audio books with the recent addition of the 1000th title marking the success of some 600 society members being able to listen to literature without difficulty.
All members of the Manx Blind Welfare Society can access the Audio Library and books are delivered to homes Island-wide, free of charge, with the support of the Isle of Man Post Office.
