Incorrect headline on locum doctors
Earlier this month Manx Radio reported on the background to the Department of Health and Social Care's £11 million budget shortfall.
The department's financial situation was investigated by Tynwald's Public Accounts Committee, which took evidence from the Minister Kate Beecroft and Chief Executive Malcolm Couch, on 9 October.
During the sitting, the minister explained that much of the overspend was attributable to the employment of locum doctors at Noble's Hospital.
Whilst our on–air coverage was accurate, a headline on our website incorrectly stated that funding locum GPs rather than locum doctors, was the prime cause. The error was quickly put right, but Manx Radio accepts that the mistake would have given the wrong impression to the public.
We are happy to set the record straight, and apologise for any distress/problems, this misrepresentation caused.
