Plans to 'dovetail' with DOI tidal wall scheme
Manx Utilities (MU) is investigating how to tackle the issue of river flooding in Laxey.
The authority has confirmed it's working closely with the Department of Infrastructure to ensure anything it develops 'dovetails' with the tidal flood wall scheme.
MU engineers have created a detailed model of the Laxey river and the surface water run-off. The next stage is a 'feasibility study' to examine options to alleviate flooding in the Laxey area.
Manx Utilities says from this, possible schemes will be identified and assessed for technical, economic and environmental merit.
Regular inspections of the river are carried out by the MU flood risk management team. Recent work was undertaken to repair damage to the riverbank at the Shore Hotel and near the tennis courts.
