Roger W. Smith is the protege of Dr George Daniels, who brought him here to master the craft decades ago.
This month he delivered a lecture to the Horological Society of New York - following in the footsteps of Dr Daniels 27 years ago.
He taught the audience of industry professionals how to develop a 'practical watch escapement' from scratch - something which certainly takes a steady hand.
