Eight roles to be launched 'in the coming weeks'
A much greater emphasis is to be announced later this month on a nursing role which was once synonymous with the smooth running of hospital wards.
A number of matron roles will be announced - eight in total.
In the House of Keys, Health Minister Claire Christian told members the position was known and respected by many people of a certain age.
She also says there's been no additional funding required to create the roles.
All eight matrons will have direct reporting lines within operational teams and have clinical professional accountability to the executive director of nursing.
