Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Phil Gawne says the Island’s meat plant is in desperate need of modernisation.
This week, he will ask Tynwald for £1.6 million to upgrade and refurbish the plant in Tromode.
Isle of Man Meats, which operates the facility, will be putting in more than £200,000.
Mr Gawne says the 18-year-old plant has a number of problems which the government needs to address urgently.
