Question to be asked of Treasury Minister in Tynwald
An MHK says he wants an update from Treasury about rates debt across the Island.
Tim Glover, who represents Arbory, Castletown and Malew, is due to ask the question in Tynwald saying it's a 'significant' problem for local authorities across the Island.
In the 2021/2022 financial year there was a total of £1,409,812.29 in uncollected rates.
This figure does not include Douglas Council, Onchan District Commissioners and Braddan Parish Commissioners which collect their own rates.
Mr Glover says unrecovered debt can lead to rates going up:
