The Health Minister says he’s reassured a scheme designed to relieve the suffering of patients who are dying in hospital is being used in the way intended.
There has been much controversy over the Liverpool Care Pathway after some patients in the UK were placed on it without their relatives' knowledge.
Under new UK government proposals, relatives of terminally-ill patients would have to be consulted before a decision to stop giving food or fluids is taken.
In a recent survey in the Isle of Man, 95 per cent of patients' families had been consulted compared with just over 70 per cent in the UK.
