But he says there has been some progress

Cabinet Office Minister David Ashford says he shares the frustration of some Tynwald members over the slow progress being made in the redevelopment of brownfield sites around the Island.

His comments follow the presentation of an update report on the issue at this month’s sitting of Tynwald.

Mr Ashford says the recent economic climate has made it harder to attract private sector involvement.

However, he stresses that some progress has been made:

One MHK is warning the apparent lack of progress in developing brownfield sites around the Island is likely to become a major issue on the doorstep during the forthcoming general election campaign.

Douglas East MHK Joney Faragher says she’s frustrated that, despite numerous government workstreams focused on the issue, little has been achieved.
