LegCo member urges governments to enforce heavier tax regime
An MLC is calling on governments worldwide to do more to tackle the so-called 'immoral' profits being made by energy firms.
Bill Henderson questioned whether more could be done to tax gas and oil companies who make large profits in light of the cost increases being experienced by consumers.
It comes as the Legislative Council is considering the Energy Bill, which includes giving legal powers to government to step in if an energy supplier goes out of business.
