Figures revealed in Tynwald
There’s currently more than one prison officer for every inmate at Jurby prison.
Onchan MHK Peter Karran asked Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson about staff and prisoner numbers in Tynwald this week.
Mr Watterson’s written reply revealed in May this year the highest number of prisoners stood at 93 – while 94 members of staff were employed to guard them.
That total includes senior, principle and governor-grade officers.
