Estate says if approved it would help generate more income
A historical estate in the north of the Island has applied for planning permission to install a temporary marquee next summer.
In its application, the Milntown Trust says it would help generate additional money by making it a more 'attractive and accessible' venue for weddings, corporate events and community functions.
The proposed marquee would be 30 metres by 12 metres, with the option of an additional annex, and would be able to hold up to 250 guests and 15 members of staff.
It would be situated on the main front field which it says is an area where temporary marquees are usually placed.
The trust adds that it would be purchased from local company Pitch & Pole which was established by Lawrence Skelly and Spencer Osborne.
It says the tent would be made available from May to August and would help lower the cost of holding events on its grounds.
The application is currently pending consideration and can be found here.
