Works ongoing until at least 5pm on Thursday
The Mountain Road will shut between Barrule Park and the Bungalow from 9.30am today (3 April).
It's mainly so the road can be resurfaced above 'Waterworks Corner' at Tower Bends on the exit from Ramsey.
It's hoped the closure will be lifted at the end of the working day on Thursday - before then it will be closed 24/7 because the nature of the works means it's not possible to allow partial reopening.
If needed there is provision to extend the closure into Good Friday and Easter Saturday in the event of unforeseen circumstances such as poor weather.
An update will be provided on Thursday.
Other works at multiple sites inside the closure area will also be carried out by the Department of Infrastructure during this time and contractors for DEFA will be felling a number of roadside trees.
It's because they are either dead or diseased and there's a risk they might fall onto the carriageway.
Access will be maintained to all businesses at the Bungalow, including the Manx Electric Railway, via the Tholt Y Will Road throughout these works.
