Murder accused 'can't remember' fatal attack

A Castletown man accused of murder has told his trial he doesn't remember stamping or jumping on his alleged victim.

Forty-six-year-old Ian Anderson denies killing 60-year-old Neil Roberts, from Ballabeg, in December 2013.

Mr Roberts's body was found at the home Mr Anderson shared with his wife in Queen Street, Castletown.

Yesterday, Linda Watts for the prosecution cross-examined Mr Anderson at Douglas courthouse.

On the night of the incident Mr Anderson said Mr Roberts kept coming at him and he had to kick him away.

The next thing he remembered was Mrs Anderson screaming.

Mr Anderson told the jury he couldn't remember how many times he hit Mr Roberts.

He claimed he was dazed and confused because of the injuries he'd sustained and there were bits he didn't remember about that night.

He said "the person who I am, stopped... it wasn't me after that... I stopped being me".

Mrs Watts said "you became the person who murdered Neil Roberts didn't you?"

He replied, "I didn't murder Mr Roberts".

The trial continues at Douglas Courthouse this morning.
