
Moves are under way to replace the CCTV system in the main shopping area of Douglas, at a cost of £400,000.
Leader of the Town Council David Christian doesn't believe in the Big Brother argument and maintains that the use of monitoring equipment makes the majority of people feel safer.
He says innocent people have nothing to fear from CCTV.
Mr Christian says discussions are taking place with the Department of Home Affairs about financing the project, because he doesn't think the whole cost should fall on the ratepayer:
