Minister highlights profitability challenges
Government is upping financial support for active farmers with hopes of enhancing the environment.
This week, a new Agriculture and Fisheries Grant Scheme has been approved by Tynwald.
It gives farmers access to a wider range of grants covering a host of initiatives, including habitat creation and protection, wildlife boxes, and education.
The update was prompted after a public consultation, which saw 90% of respondents agree a new strategy was needed to deliver a sustainable, self-reliant Manx food chain.
Environment, Food and Agriculture Minister Geoffrey Boot says the biggest problem facing the sector is profitability:

Government 'neglecting' heritage assets across the Island
Motiv8: 'We will never reach all the children on the Isle of Man'
House of Keys question paper dominated by one MHK
Onchan Commissioners to undertake 'accessibility' review of park equipment
Efforts to push more services online causing frustration in community
