Donation from the Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust
Student nurses on the Isle of Man are benefitting from being able to practice their essential clinical skills in a safe and realistic environment.
Two new simulation ‘Juno manikins’ have been donated by the Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust.
Nurses can take pulses, blood, do catheterisation and stoma care; they can be adjusted to suit male and female anatomy.
The manikins are interactive and responsive and include reservoir functions which emit fluid when used in procedures including IV or draining oedema.
Theatre Education Lead Liz Hignett said: “We cannot thank the Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust enough for their instrumental support in making this possible.
“The procurement of these manikins will significantly enhance our student nurse training program helping to cultivate our next generation of nursing professionals.”
Malcolm Clague, Chair of Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust, added: “The Henry Bloom Noble Healthcare Trust is extremely supportive of education and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to enhance on-Island training.
“The students are offered a bursary here don’t have to get in debt or leave friends and family behind.
“Encouraging on-Island education is the key to retaining a skilled workforce in years to come."
