Must look further than constituency issues says Ronan
Prospective MHKs need to remember they are being elected to become 'national politicians'.
That's the advice of a former government minister who also says the new members need to lead the civil service – and not the other way round.
Richard Ronan represented Castletown between 2011 and 2016 before stepping away from politics.
He says the 24 people elected on Thursday will need to look further than the local issues in their constituencies:
