MFP backs up fishermen's assertions
A new survey backs up claims by the Island's fishermen that a Bangor University survey of scallop stocks has made the situation out to be worse than it actually is.
Off the back of the Bangor survey, a forty per cent cut in catch for the new queenie season, which has started this week, has been introduced.
There is also a warning that queenie fishing next year might have to be curtailed.
But David Beard, of the Manx Fish Producers, says their industry survey paints a different picture.
