Manx Care began 'exploring the option' in July 2023
The business case for closing the Manx Emergency Doctors Service, or MEDS, overnight during the week was first presented by Manx Care in December 2023.
The new procedure came into force at the beginning of the month, with a reduction in demand and staff issues being cited as the reasons behind the decision.
Douglas South MHK Claire Christian sought clarification today (Tuesday 16 January) on the timeline for the move, and asked what correspondence there was between the healthcare body and the Department of Health and Social Care.
Health Minister Lawrie Hooper said no such correspondence exists, but said Manx Care outlined that it was exploring the option in July last year:
