There are no plans to levy extra taxes on phone lines in the Isle of Man to pay for broadband infrastructure.
That was the response from Treasury Minister Allan Bell in the House of Keys today, when Rushen MHK Juan Watterson asked if the Island would follow the United Kingdom's lead.
There, a £6 a year tax has been proposed to pay for high-speed internet lines in rural areas.
But Mr Bell said the Island was already well-served for broadband and there were no plans to adopt the UK's plans:
