'No surprise measures' in budget statement, says Allinson
There'll be no 'rabbits out of hats' in today's Manx Budget, the Treasury Minister has predicted.
After David Ashford’s departure from Treasury, the job of standing up in Tynwald and delivering The Budget has fallen to Ramsey MHK and Treasury Minister, Alex Allinson.
Speaking ahead of his first announcement, Dr Allinson says the economic pressures of the last three years have restricted his ability to unveil any surprise measures in his statement.
He says energy costs, for instance, have hit government as hard as the rest of the population.
