More than 300 fake items destined for car boot sales
Around £7,000 of knock-off goods, destined for car boot sales across the Island, has been seized by the Office of Fair Trading.
More than 300 fake items – including designer clothes, shoes and cosmetics - were seized following an investigation by the consumer watchdog.
The OFT has now issued a warning to rogue traders that it will take action on those dealing in counterfeit goods.
It’s part of efforts to protect unwitting individuals from being sold shoddy, or dangerous products, and to protect genuine enterprise and the rights of trademark owners.
The OFT has also offered tips for spotting fakes including checking the labels for spelling mistakes and testing the quality and reminded shoppers that 'if something seems too good to be true, it probably is'.
