Operation Christmas Child 2008 has been launched.
Volunteers dropped off a number of shoe boxes at Port Erin railway station, before travelling by train to Douglas, via Port St Mary and Castletown where more contributions were collected.
As usual, people are being encouraged to fill a shoe box with a variety of gifts and a small donation, for distribution among children living in underprivileged circumstances in other countries.
Operation Christmas Child is run every year the international relief organisation Samaritan's Purse.
