It's the first in a series of closures scheduled for December
The first of a series of closures on the Mountain Road comes into force this morning.
The route is due to shut between Brandywell and the Creg ny Baa junctions from 9.30am to 4.30pm today and tomorrow.
These closures will allow for surveying work to be carried out ahead of plans to excavate the road surface, replace culverts and resurface the carriageway next year.
Further closures are scheduled this month on 9 and 10 December and 16 and 17 December, with contingency dates set aside on 11 and 18 in case of inclement weather.
Update: The Department of Infrastructure cancelled today's planned closure due to high wind speeds.
